Dairy Cattle - Department B

ATTENTION DAIRY EXHIBITORS     

  1. Every exhibit regardless of class, must be entered with the FAIR BOARD SECRETARY, Susan Banks.

  2. Please check in health and registration papers at check in. We will be coming around barn for check in on Thursday night from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. 

  3. If you’re not available at that time it’s your responsibility to find us for check in and to turn in health paper before you show.

  4. Red animals must be registered to show in Red & White show and true in color red black will show with Holsteins.

  5. No changes or switches allowed after check in. Changes are only allowed within your exhibitor number–No family changes will be allowed.

  6. No animal will be permitted to compete for more than one class except as one of a herd or pair.

  7. All cattle must be cleaned and clipped for the show.

  8. Members of immediate family ONLY may combine entries to show in group class. OPEN SHOW ONLY.

  9. Any yearling that has calved must be shown in JR. Two-Year Old Cow Class.

  10. NUMBER OF STALLS ALLOWED PER EXHIBITOR IS: 1–HEIFER, 1-1/2–COW, 1–TACK & FEED. IF FINAL COUNT OF STALLS IS 1/2, IT WILL BE ROUNDED UP. CANNOT PURCHASE 1/2 STALL.

  11. Any breed with less than 20 head may be combined at the discretion of the superintendents.

  12. EXHIBITOR’S TAGS must be worn in show ring.

  13. PROOF of EXHIBITOR’S AGE required for JR. Show, i.e. birth certificate, driver’s license.

  14. In JR. Show entries must be exhibited by a JR. Exhibitor.

  15. Open Show & JR. Show are shown together.

  16. WHITE PANTS are mandatory for show – No one will be allowed to show without white pants!

  17. Open & JR. Show Holstein, and Red & White Holstein classes 87% and above animals will be eligible to show.

  18. All livestock exhibitor’s trucks, trailers and vehicles must be parked outside the gates.

  19. Nothing can be stored outside of barn on north, south, or ends of barn.

  20. Milk house is locked except during milking times which are from 5 am to 8 am and 4 pm to 9 pm. Please notify supervisor if you want to milk for show days.

  • Winter Heifer Calf – Dec. 1, 2023 to Feb. 28, 2024

  • Fall Heifer Calf – Sept. 1, 2023 to Nov. 30, 2023

  • Summer Yearling Heifer –  June 1, 2023 to Aug. 31, 2023

  • Spring Yearling Heifer – March 1, 2023 to May 31, 2023

  • Winter Yearling Heifer – Dec. 1, 2022 to Feb. 28, 2023

  • Fall Yearling Heifer – Sept. 1, 2022 to Nov. 30, 2022

  • JR. Two-Year Old Cow – March 1, 2022 to Aug. 31, 2022

  • SR. Two-Year Old Cow –  Sept. 1, 2021 to Feb. 28, 2022

  • JR. Three-Year Old Cow – March 1, 2021 to Aug. 31, 2021

  • SR. Three-Year Old Cow –  Sept. 1, 2020 to Feb. 28, 2021

  • Four-Year Old Cow – Sept. 1, 2019 to Aug. 31, 2020

  • Five-Year Old Cow – Sept. 1, 2018 to Aug. 31, 2019

  • Aged Cow – Before Sept. 1, 2018

  • 125,000 lbs. Cow–no age requirement–bring DHI or DHIR records to verify.

  • Dry Three- and Four-Year Old Cow – Sept. 1, 2019 to Aug. 31, 2021

  • Dry Aged Cow – Before Sept. 1, 2019

Mailed entries must be postmarked before midnight, Saturday, July 13th

Entries can be made in person and will be taken in the Administration Bldg. on the fairgrounds which will be open on Saturday, July 20th, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, July 21st, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ONLY.

Do Not Make Entries For Champions or Best Udder

Entry Fee $5.00 Per Entry

Stall Rent $5.00 Per Tie

Only Straw or Bag Mulch & Bag Shavings allowed for bedding!

Administration Fee $5.00 Per Dept., includes 4-H exhibitors, no fee for junior dept. if entered in open show.

Exhibitor passes and vehicle stickers will NOT be mailed. They can only be picked up at the Administration Bldg.

TWO DAY DAIRY SHOW

Friday, August 9th — Breeds will show by the listing order in the book – Holstein, R&W Holstein, Jersey, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, Milking Shorthorn, Ayrshire - Starting with Spring Calves thru Jr. Best Three and ending with Grand Champion Heifer Over All Breeds.

Saturday, August 10th — All Cows - Breeds will show by the listing order in the book starting with Jr. Two - Year Olds. This will be followed by Grand Champion Female Over All Breeds and then Group Classes.

Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor!!

Point system established if 30 animals per breed — Must exhibit a minimum of 6 heads, one being a cow!
