Jr. Dairy Goat - Department H6

Rules & Regulations, Etc.

Exhibitors Ticket: $20.00 per exhibitor unless Boone County 4-H or exhibiting in open show.

In the event of a shortage of pen space, the Superintendent reserves the right to limit the amount of pens issued to each Exhibitor.

This show is ADGA sanctioned and their rules shall govern. The Jr. Doe Show and the Sr. Doe Show are not separately sanctioned. (20 Milking Does per breed is needed to be official for GCH Legs–please enter all possible Milking Does!) All other GCH wins considered as “dry” or “restricted legs.”

Entries open to all youth, exhibitors must be 8 years old and not over 21 by September 1, 2022, and do not have to be a 4-H member.

Entries must be postmarked by Saturday, July 15th.

All animals being shown must be registered in the name of the exhibitor. All animals must be registered with a national registry (ADGA, AGS, CGS, etc.)

No charge for pens. However, if entry is not in the Open Show or an exhibitor is not a 4-H member, they must pay pen rent.

Judging will begin promptly after the 4-H Dairy Goat Show, Thursday, August 10th.

All animals must meet the State of Illinois health requirements that are listed in the front of the book. ALL ANIMALS WILL BE SCRATCHED FROM THE SHOW FOR UNHEALTHY CONDITIONS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE SHOW COMMITTEE OR SUPERINTENDENTS AND WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO REMAIN ON THE GROUNDS. If there is any problem regarding their ruling, a veterinarian will be called at the exhibitor’s expense. No animal will be allowed on the ground with open sores or infections.

The original registration certificate is required for all animals 6 months of age or older. The original registration certificate or stamped duplicate by ADGA is required for all animals under 6 months of age. All registrations are to be shown to the secretary prior to the show. No copies of the registration certificate or the stamped duplicate, telegrams or phone calls will be accepted in lieu of the original certificate.

Registration papers will be checked upon arrival.

Animals must be in place by 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 9th, and remain in place until released Sunday, August 13th. Check-in will be Wednesday 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

No horned animals or males will be allowed on the grounds.

Two entries per exhibitor will be allowed per class. No more than two premiums will be paid to any one exhibitor in any one class.

All livestock exhibitor’s trucks, trailers and vehicles must be parked outside the gates.

  • Milking Yearling .............             Under 2 years- Born after Aug.2,2022

  • Milker 2 years & under 3 .........August 2, 2019 to August 1, 2021

  • Milker 3 years & under 4 .........August 2, 2018 to August 1, 2020

  • Milker 4 years & under 5 .........August 2, 2017 to August 1, 2019

  • Milker 5 years & older ...............Born before August 2  2018                                               '

Entry Fee: $1.75 per class ($1.50 entry + .25 fees)

Mailed entries must be postmarked before midnight, Saturday, July 15th

WALK- IN ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED

Administration Fee $5.00 Per Dept., includes 4-H exhibitors, no fee for junior dept. if entered in open show.

Exhibitor passes and vehicle stickers will NOT be mailed. They must be picked up at the Administration Bldg. before entry onto fairgrounds.

Youth Goat Judging Contest 

Open to first 20 entries, boy or girl between ages 8 & 21 years of age as of Sept. 1, 2022.

 

Contestants will determine placings in two lineups of  animals as selected by the Superintendent. 

 

Contest to be held Thursday, August 10th following completion of 4-H Dairy Goat Show. No entry fee

 

In case of ties, premium amounts will be adjusted.
